Non-NHS Work

Non-NHS fees and charges effective 01st September 2023

It is not possible to provide all services under the National Health Service. The following table shows a selection of the private fees and services for which you will have to pay for. If you require a service of this kind, we need your request to your usual GP, preferably in writing via our website explaining why you require this information. Please note all fees are payable in advance.

FAQ’S

I only need the doctor’s signature or a brief note – Why should I have to pay?

When a doctor signs a certificate or completes a report, it is a condition of remaining on the Medical Register that they only sign what they know to be true. Therefore in order to complete even the simplest of forms, the doctor may need to check the patient’s entire record. Carelessness or an inaccurate report can have serious consequences for the doctor, with the General Medical Council or even the Police. This time needs to be in addition to usual clinic appointments which is why we charge for these services.

I wasn’t informed there was a charge when I requested my correspondence

There are few times when you may not have been notified by the practice of a fee at the time of your request. This may be due to a training need in some instances; to combat this we will always contact you ahead of time for payment before actioning your request. If you would no longer like to proceed due to the additional charge you will have the option to cancel and no action will be made to complete this by our secretarial team and GP’s. Unfortunately due to lots of non-collections of pre-typed letters and non-payments it is not policy that we receive payment upfront before completing any work.

The practice provides full transparency of our additional charges and fees on our website, social media and also in practice waiting rooms.

The practice does not complete driving licenses, passport countersignature and shotgun certificates. Please also note this work is not priority work and therefore can take up to 28 days to complete from receipt of payment.
